"Sheri was the visionary, principal architect, and manager of the project. She accomplished what none before her had been able to do since the program began in 1940.”

AMERICAN FORESTS
Communications and Marketing Senior Manager (2012-2014)
Washington, D.C.

American Forests is the oldest national nonprofit conservation organization that works to protect and restore forests. I committed seven years to this organization after I graduated from Penn State; starting at the front desk as the office manager and working my way up to a communications and marketing senior manager. I loved the work I was producing in the communications department and saw how much I thrived in that space that I decided to pursue this career full time. From environmental education and program management to maintaining the website and speaking at events, I acquired many skills during my time at American Forests.

Program Coordinator of National Big Tree Program (2008 - 2014)
I fell in love with the National Big Tree Program and the volunteers who made the program truly special. For six years I was the coordinator of the program, where I managed the work of 50 state coordinators and scores of big tree hunters. I also produced the biannual National Register of Champion Trees and oversaw its design. If you want to learn about the competitive nature of big tree hunting, I have plenty of entertaining stories to share.

Managing Technical and Design Editor (2012-2014)
Working for a small nonprofit taught me to how to wear many hats, including learning how to design and produce content for print and web. The senior team recognized this ability and entrusted me to become the design editor for our award-winning magazine, in addition to using my technical background to verify scientific content.
